Customer Reviews

I was debating on this size or the one size smaller. I made the right choice. All though it does take a 40 amp breaker and number 8 wire ( same specs as conventional electrical stove in most homes), which is a fairly good load, the hot water is instant and plentiful. We have a 1 inch incoming line and plenty of pressure, reduced down to 1/2" within a foot of the heater. The flow through the unit is a lot and with the t-stat turned to full the water is plenty warm. It doesn't take much of a flow to trip the unit on.
We had tried a smaller unit at another location and we had to control the water flow to get substantial 'warm' water.

I was tired of hasteling my 4-gallon hot water heater in my forty foot RV, I mean 4-gallons of warm water makes for a real short shower especially when the winter ground water temperature that's replacing the hot water used from the tank is a freezing 40 degrees cooooold.
So I decided to go with an on demand tankless hot water heater and Rheems RTE9 40-amp breaker 3-gpm hot water heater fit my needs to a Tee.
Excellent Rapid delivery, over the phone they said three to five weeks, oh-well - the RTE9 arrived in five working days, perfect.
Installation, it took two to two and a-half hours to install. It took longer to drive to Lowe's and collect and buy the parts than it did to install the Rheem RTE9.
The Rheem RTE9 was quick and easy to install.
I screwed the RTE9 and an electrical junction box to the wall.
I plumbed the RTE9 into my RV's water lines with PTC (push to connect-connector pipe fittings) quick and easy.
I flipped-off the main breaker, then ran ten feet of 8-gauge wire between the circuit breaker panel and the RTE9.
I tied the RTE9 to the 8 gauge wire in the junction box with wire-nuts and connected the 8 gauge wire to the 240v 40-amp breaker, then I snapped the breaker into the service panel.
I opened the hot water faucets, turned the RTE9's valve on, turned the master RV water shut-off valve on, to purged and prime the RTE9, once they system was loaded/primed I closed the faucets.
I flipped-on the main breaker, then switched-on the RTE9's breaker, the green light came on the RTE9 - and when I opened the hot water kitchen and the bathroom shower faucets again, which are both ten feet away from the RTE9, the red lights came on the RTE9 - and endless hot water came flow'n out of the faucets. What a breeze!
What a Great Hot Water Heater! I highly recommend it for your home, RV or Boat ) provided you have a minimum 50-amp service.
